The typical cryptocurrency owner is a high-income white male, the study found. Other groups, especially minorities, are also turning to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. A recent survey by Morning Consult found that while 69 percent of U.S. adults are white, only 62 percent of cryptocurrency owners are white. Meanwhile, 24% of cryptocurrency owners are Hispanic, while only 16% of U.S. adults overall identify as Hispanic. Other minorities make up a smaller percentage of cryptocurrency owners, with Blacks owning 8% and Asians and other races 6%.
