Global beauty giant L'Oreal has applied for 17 trademarks related to virtual goods, which fall under the NFT and Metaverse categories, suggesting that L'Oreal may be dabbling in the virtual goods economy. The filings include its subsidiaries Kiehl's, Maybelline, Pureology, Urban Decay and Redken, among others. In eight of the documents, L'Oréal said it would "provide a virtual world for people to browse, accumulate, buy, sell, and trade virtual cosmetics." The company first dabbled in NFTs in December, when it released seven products focused on women Artists and their empowered NFTs.
