Binance hires ex-Russian and Ukrainian government officials to help grow its crypto business in these countries

Binance has hired ex-government officials from Russia and Ukraine to help it grow its crypto business in those countries. Olga Goncharova, head of the Bank of Russia report collection and processing department, has joined Binance as Binance’s first Director of Government Relations in Russia. In Ukraine, Binance is hiring Kyrylo Khomiakov, who will lead the Ukrainian government infrastructure project agency until June 2021, as director. Last July, Ukraine passed a law allowing its central bank, the National Bank of Ukraine, to issue a CBDC. The country’s parliament also recently passed a bill to regulate cryptocurrency-related activities and businesses in Ukraine, but the president refused to sign it and asked for changes to the bill.
