Odaily Planet Daily News: Canadian Industry Minister Melanie Joly made it clear that Canada will fight back against US President Trump's move to impose a 50% tariff on copper imports. Joly took a tough stance, saying "we will firmly oppose and never compromise", but she did not disclose specific details of the counterattack. Earlier, Trump posted on the social platform on the evening of the 9th that a 50% tariff would be imposed on copper imported into the United States, and the tariff would officially take effect on August 1. According to data from the Canadian Department of Natural Resources, Canada's exports of copper and copper-based products reached 9.3 billion Canadian dollars in 2023, of which about half were sold to the United States.
