Indian PM Modi: Digital rupee will strengthen digital economy, revolutionize fintech

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the potential benefits of the RBI's digital rupee (CBDC) digital rupee in a speech to members and leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at a virtual meeting on the federal budget on Wednesday. Modi said that the RBI digital currency will strengthen the digital economy. The Indian Prime Minister reportedly explained that the digital rupee will also revolutionize the fintech industry by creating new opportunities and easing the processing, printing and logistical burdens of cash management.
