Japanese Finance Minister: G20 Summit Discusses Cryptocurrencies, Including Rise of So-called Stablecoins

Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki said on February 10 that the Group of 20 nations are expected to meet next week to discuss potential risks to global financial stability, including the rise of so-called stablecoins. He said that he hopes to conduct a more in-depth analysis of the impact of the central bank's digital currency on the international foreign exchange system. Shunichi Suzuki also said that cooperation among the G-20 countries is important. Suzuki said he was unable to attend the meeting due to a conflict with the parliament's schedule, so undersecretary for international affairs Masato Kanda would attend in his place.
