Polygon (MATIC) will have a London hard fork on January 18 to introduce a burning mechanism

On January 12, Polygon (MATIC) tweeted: “Following the successful upgrade of EIP-1559 on the Mumbai testnet last year, the long-awaited hard fork of the London mainnet is about to begin! #EIP1559 and related EIPs will be available in the district Validated activation at block height 23,850,000, estimated date 8:00AM (UTC) / 3:00AM (ET) on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.” In December 2021, Polygon launched Ethereum on the Mumbai testnet Improve the testnet implementation of Proposition 1559 to introduce MATIC token burn and better gas fee visibility, a move borrowed from Ethereum’s burn mechanism.
