Tennessee lawmakers propose allowing state to invest in cryptocurrencies and NFTs

U.S. Representative Jason Powell of the Tennessee House of Representatives introduced a new bill proposing that the state allow investment in cryptocurrencies and/or NFTs. Powell proposes to amend the current state code to add crypto, blockchain, and NFTs to state, county, and city mandates Investing on the list to use idle funds to invest, lawmakers passed the bill to the House Finance Subcommittee on Feb. 8 for further consideration. Powell also filed Bill 2643, recommending that Tennessee lawmakers consider creating a research committee aimed at making the state “the most forward-thinking and friendly state for cryptocurrencies and Currency creates a positive economic environment".
