The Venezuelan government has approved a new tax policy that will affect transactions in foreign currencies and cryptocurrencies. Approved by the country's National Assembly, the tax policy, dubbed "large financial transactions," will impose a tax of up to 20 percent on transactions made in currencies other than the state's legal tender or petro.
